Unlock Your Active Life

[ read time < 2 minutes + VIDEO ]

In high school, I was required to have a combination lock on my gym locker. The combination locks had three numbers, and students needed to remember all three numbers to open their lockers. Remembering two of the three numbers got you nothing.

I’m not exactly sure why we couldn’t have the type of lock that used a small key. Maybe it was because students frequently lost their keys.

While it’s been roughly two and half decades since I was a student in gym class, I can't help but notice that some of my clients feel like gym students who prefer the simplicity of having one key rather than the hassle of spinning a dial to three different numbers.

Most of my clients have already tried one or two approaches to return to their active lives, and such attempts were unsuccessful. Returning to an active life-- after experiencing persistent aches and pains-- rarely involves only one approach. Long-lasting success typically requires a three-fold approach.

I frequently refer to this three-fold approach as the triangle of success.

You probably won’t return to hiking, biking, surfing, swimming, or fill-in-the-blank-with-your-favorite-activity, unless you address all three sides of the triangle.
